applicability of money market principles discussed in The Savage Truth on Money to Pakistan’s Stock Exchange

By Terry Savage on May 20, 2023 | Wild Card

I have just gone through your fantastic book on money matters named “the savage truth on money” and no doubt you have highlighted the key principles of success in money market. This book has been written purely from the American perspective. I live in Pakistan and this country is currently politically and economically instable. Hope in the long run it will attain politico-economic stability. My question is that can I apply the capital market management techniques mentioned in your book while making investment on long term basis in my country’s stock exchange market which is currently underperforming? thanks

Terry Says

Well, I’m glad my book found its way to Pakistan. I don’t follow your country’s market, so I couldn’t give you a good answer to your question. The impressive thing about American markets is that for more than a century, despite wars, economic issues, and political changes, they reflect the long-term growth of the American economy. Perhaps you might want to diversify some of your holdings into the Standard & Poors 500 stock index fund (available through Fidelity or Vanguard) to take advantage of the opportunity to invest here. (I suggest this without being aware of whether your country has currency controls or other restrictions on foreign investments.)
