I really don'[t have any suggestions — because the Illinois department of Employment Services (IDES) is so messed up. But I am a bit confused by your question. The IRS has nothing to do with unemployment — unless you did receive benefits and owe taxes. However, you should have received 3 stimulus checks over the past year — and that IS from the IRS.
So did you receive all three stimulus checks: $1200, $600 (inJanuary), and $1400 recently.
For the first two if you did not get them, you need to file a tax return now — even with no income. Go to www.IRS.gov/freefile to do that. You will claim the first two stimulus checks on Line 30 of that return.
Then you should automatically receive the $1400 check in coming weeks. They’re still going out.
As for work, I’m glad you could go back to work because Illinois is so messed up there is little likelihood you will receive back benefits.
