Bills after death
Mom passed away after a brief hospital stay in February. We have not gotten a bill from the hospital. How long do we have to wait for a bill before we can disperse her estate money? Are we (beneficiaries) responsible for her bills after her death? Thanks for your time

Her ESTATE is responsible for the bills, so definitely wait to get a final bill from the hospital before disbursing the balance in her accounts. You could check with the hospital to see if there is a balance due, something that Medicare and her supplement didn’t cover. And make sure that if she owns a home, all bills are covered as well.
If you distribute the estate and the bills come in, you could be responsible as executor for the amount unpaid!
