Changing institutions or Financial Advisers

By Terry Savage on August 12, 2026 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Hello
We’ve been with Chase for approximately approximately fifteen years or more
we had Ira’s and last year we inherited our deceased relatives financial portfolio which they had at Fidelity and moved our inheritance to Chase were on our third advisor at Chase and I feel unsettled about the first advisor left to go with a Wealth Management Co anthe second left to start his own service but is somehow related to Charles Schwab the recent adviser we havenot met but he says he’s been there 20 years
Do we stick with the institution or follow the person who was advising us
Thank you

Not sure if you’re a man or a woman. But if you’re a woman, you will understand this response. If your long-time hair stylist and colorist left the salon, would you automatically take the next person to use the chair? And the next person after that? Without knowing how good they are, just blindly keep going to the same chair — instead of either following the person who was great. Or asking someone knowledgeable for a recommendation??

Again, if you’re a man you won’t get it! So instead, let me just say it is time for independent, FEE-ONLY financial advice, from someone who is not trying to sell you something, anything!!
