Collecting deseased husbands Social Security
Hello,
If I start collecting my late husbands social security, what is the limit I can make working? Also, if I start collecting, does my benefit change when I retire?
Thank you
Terry Says
OK, a lot depends on your age and marital history. In brief, if you were married 10 years, and are not currently remarried, you can collect your deceased husband’s SS starting at your age 62 (a reduced benefit). But whether you should do that or not, depends on yoru own SS earned benefit!
Please go to www.MaximizeMySocialSecurity.com and run the numbers — using both your info and your deceased husband’s — to see the strategy that will get you the largest lifetime benefits. It is well worth the cost of $49 — because SS almost never gets it right!
