COVID 19 PAYMENTS and back child support

By Terry Savage on April 06, 2020 | Wild Card

I recieve SSDI but I am currently being deducted for back child support. I recently heard you on WGN say people like me won’t recieve COVID19 stimulus payments. I also read previously that those payments will be paid in $200 monthly increments until the end of year 2021. My question is two fold:
1. Is it a monthly $200 bonus to what I currently receive until the end of 2021 or a one time $1200 payment in adfition to what I currently receive?
2. If I don’t receive it, will it be credited to my child support arrears?

Love your advice and thank you!

Terry Says

You won’t get any check, and the amount you don’t receive will not be credited to back child support. This is the one thing that can impact stimulus checks.
