Covid Stimulus

By Terry Savage on February 26, 2021 | Taxes & Economy

Hello,
I am curious about what could be done regarding taxes and covis/stimulus. The government is giving all housing benefits to renters and property owners get nothing but zero rent (for months on end) and higher property taxes! I believe that either they should give substantial property tax credits and/or make mortgage payments.
I’m disabled and I am supposed to receive a property tax discount. The increase this year was so large, my taxes haven’t changed. Thanking God I’ve paid off many credit cards.
Thanks a bunch!!

I’m guessing you live in Illinois, where property taxes have been rising dramatically. In fact, we are one of the worst states for property tax burdens, though the income tax — so far — isn’t among the highest. But that doesn’t help if you are retired with little income except SS and pension (which aren’t taxed by the state — yet)!

Have you checked with a specialist to see if you can get your property taxes reduced? I recommend Andrea Raila at 312-587-9494 if you live in the Chicago area.
