Death

By Terry Savage on November 04, 2026 | Wild Card

If I die are my children who are adults responsible for my credit card bills even though they do not live with me? No husband.

Terry Says

Yor “estate” is responsible for your credit card balances. Likely your adult child, who is named as the executor of your estate, will contact the card issuers. If the balance is large enough, they will pursue the “estate” in court, demanding repayment out of any assets (your home, your bank accounts), before the balance is distributed. In practice, they will likely write off small balances.
