deceased husband’s 1099G form

By Terry Savage on January 16, 2022 | Wild Card

My husband died 10/30/21. He collected unemployment up to 09/2021. I need to get his 1099G for tax purposes. We are over the 24.5k income for year 2021 so I know I have to include his unemployment benefit. Can you give me direction on how I can obtain his 1099G?
thank you

Terry Says

First, let me say I’m sorry for your loss. Make sure you collect HIS Social Security, if it is larger than your own benefit.

I’m assuming you live in Illinois. The Illinois website says that 1099G forms will not be mailed until late January. (That’s ok because you can’t even file until Jan 24th!) So look for it in the mail. And here’s a link to that Illinois webpage.

If you live in another state, check your state’s website. But they are all going to be sent out in the next few weeks.
