Ask Terry Questions Disability

Disability

If someone who at 65 is on disability and sells their home, will the income from the sale kick them off disability?

Terry Says

I had to do some research on this. And the answer depends on whether you are receiving SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) or SSI (supplemental income benefits). The SSI benefit does have a limitation on assets, but a home is excluded. So selling it and getting the cash would definitely impact SSI benefits.
