Ask Terry Questions Drug costs

Drug costs

By Terry Savage on November 22, 2019 | Wild Card

Just read your column on Medicare etal. My question is about drug costs. I have a Medicare D plan with Well Care. In reviewing my plans I noticed that even with plans offered by the same company—Well Care— the cost of any particular drug changes per version of plan. I understand (maybe) why what they offer me may change, but shouldn’t the basic cost of the drug be just the basic cost of the drug, or the same? Thank you.

You would think so. But that’s not the way the plans are set up. And it’s why you must use the Medicare Plan Finder to figure out the lowest cost plan that works for your exact prescription meds. Yes, it’s insane!
