Economic Income Payment
Since the pandemic began, my husband and I have received no stimulus payments. We assumed we made too much and tried to pursue an answer online at IRS.gov, but were never successful. We recently did our 2020 taxes with Turbo Tax and it stated that we should have gotten a payment, but if we didn’t we can claim a 962.00 tax credit. We didn’t mail our taxes yet, and a few days ago we got a stimulus debit card of 967.75. We don’t know if that’s the first or second payment. Can we still take the tax credit of 962.00 and assume that was the first payment that never made it to us? Then the second payment would be the 967.75? We just went on IRS.gov and it stated that the third payment will be deposited in our bank account on March 24. Just trying to make sure we don’t make an error on our tax forms. Thank you and love listening to you on WGN.

OK, I just have to take a guess at this. I would wait until March 25th (and it may take a few days longer to hit your account) to see what, if anything, arrives. Anything direct deposited now would be your $1400 payment (or any part of it that you qualify for based on income). Let the dust settle before doing anything. There are just too many possibilities at this point to make a reasonable recommendation!
