Emancipated minor/stimulus check
Hello terry my name is Gabriella and I am currently 16yrs old and pregnant. As of things I’ve been told and heard, due to me being pregnant, I’m legally emancipated. I’m 29wks pregnant so I’m expecting my lovely son soon but money is very tight and haven’t been able to get work due to this virus ordeal so my question is if I would be eligible to get the stimulus check or not. I have a baby you take care of, and oh boy they are expensive! I have an apartment to pay for. Thank you so much!

Whew, you are in a tough spot. Let me ask you a few basic questions:
Did your parents file a tax return in 2018 or 2018 and take you as a dependent? if they did, then you don’t get a stimulus check!
Do YOU receive SSI or other federal benefits? If so, then you would likely receive a stimulus check on your card.
But you can register at this link to try to claim your stimulus if your parents didn’t claim you and you don’t get benefits:

It sounds like you’re trying hard to be responsible for your baby and yourself at a very young age. Be sure to reach out to your local community assistance groups because having a baby is a very expensive process, and you’ll need to make arrangements for either childcare or some form of public assistance.
Finally, you are not “automatically emancipated” because you are 16 and pregnant. That depends on the rules of your state– and you may have to go to court to get yourself legally emancipated if your parents object.
