Ask Terry Questions Expiration of Regular Unemployment in Illinois

Expiration of Regular Unemployment in Illinois

By Terry Savage on October 16, 2020 | Wild Card

My daughter’s benefits expired in the last week of September.. Her notice stated her 26 weeks had expired and this is the Maximum Benefit Amount..

On the Illinois.gov web site it states she will automatically be applied by the state for PEUC benefits of 12 weeks extra..

How can she confirm this? It does not state this anywhere on the notice of MBA she just received.. It states to not reapply for benefits on the web site..

Is there any way to clarify? Is this a state run extra benefit or federal?

Thanks for your help.. Love you on WGN.. Gary

Her benefits should continue automatically for an extra 13 weeks — total of 39 weeks. Please write back if they stop. But the state system is such a mess that I really can’t help! Don’t try to check on this — wait until she has either received extended benefits –or not. Fingers crossed.
