Ask Terry Questions Federal Tax Refund

Federal Tax Refund

By Terry Savage on November 14, 2022 | Taxes & Economy

On April 6th of this year my son had his accountant electronically file his Federal Tax forms. He received a notification that the filing was accepted on April 7th, and was issued a tracking number. He still has not received his refund of approximately $4,700. When he goes online the website IRS2GO states that his return has been “delayed beyond a normal timeframe” No other information is available. He has never received any paperwork from the IRS and has nowhere to enter the tracking number. We don’t know were else to look. Can you please tell us how to proceed. Thankyou.

Terry Says

First step is to open an IRS ID.me account. Follow these instructions:
https://www.terrysavage.com/create-an-irs-account-for-info/

That should tell you everything that can be known about the status of his report. If you are still in the dark, please write back to the email you will receive from me, letting you know this question has been answered.

Oh, and do check his credit report at www.AnnualCreditReport.com to make sure there is no issue of identity theft.
