Financial Retirement Status, now at age 80

By Terry Savage on December 23, 2019 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I have $2mil in my retirement account, mostly in equities, no debt, no mortgage, $180 Thousand in savings for traveling, am 80 years young. Should I stay in stocks or repossession into more conservative investments?

Terry Says

That depends on how much you plan to spend every year for the rest of your life! And whether you’re hoping to spend it ALL — or leave some for your heirs, or for charities you designate. This is where a good financial planner can help you — not pushing you into expensive products, but helping you sort through your goals and risk tolerance.
You don’t say whether you have long term care insurance, a good estate plan, and a healthcare power of attorney. Those are things to consider, as well.
