Ask Terry Questions Florida Will & Trust

Florida Will & Trust

By Terry Savage on September 12, 2025 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I had a Will and Trust completed when I lived in Florida. Now I’m lving back in Illinois. Is my Will and Trust still valid? Should I get it reviewed by an estate attorney?

Thank you,

Terry Says

If Illinois is going to be your permanent residence, you should have your will and trust re-written to reflect that you live in Illinois. You don’t have to change anything else, so this should be an inexpensive proposition. But if you do want to make any changes, this is the time to do it.

If you don’t have an estate plannign attorney here, ask your local bank trust department. Or go to www.Search-attorneys.com. Or in ILlinois I always recommend Kerry Peck: https://www.peckritchey.com/
