Ask Terry Questions fraudulent IDES claim

fraudulent IDES claim

By Terry Savage on October 31, 2020 | Wild Card

Terry, I had a day off yesterday, which is rare when I received a call from the accountant saying sorry to bother you on your day off. However, he received a filing for unemployment from IDES.
So he immediately responded saying the claim was denied and this was a fraudulent claim. I then called my banks, Equifax, Experian, Transunion, etc… I will call IDES today, and Social Security suggested I report this to ID Theft.gov. So my question is how are these claims being processed or are employers not taking the time to decline them. I work for a small CPA/Legal firm, so the claim stood out like a sore thumb. I listen to you on the radio and just wanted to share my experience. Enjoy listening to you and love all your knowledge. Thanks

Read this article on my website home page about Identity Theft. That’s what’s happened to you!
Follow all the instructions. You have made a good start. But be sure you review all the inquires on your credit report to see if a bank account is opened in your name somewhere.
Most people won’t figure this out till they get a 1099 next January! So be sure to keep track of all your efforts to report this — per the instructions in my article.
