Free Credit Report: “freeze” on your cresit

In your “5 easy moves to fast-track your finances” article, under the “Check your credit” sub-heading, you wrote, in parentheses: ‘Although you might want to do that, (…get a free credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus without signing up for commercial watch services), if you don’t want to put a “freeze” on your credit. Are you saying that if you sign up for the free credit reports, that will put a freeze on my credit? I’m confused with the wording and would appreciate clarification on this statement. Thank you.

Terry Says: Let me check the wording. No I didn’t mean that. Check your credit. If you’re worried ou can put a frrze on at no cost if you’ve reported identity theft, or a small cost to freeze, then in-frrze later if it’s just a precaution,
