Getting started on retirement investing

By Terry Savage on April 22, 2019 | Investments

I am a cosmetologist that rents a booth at a salon, they do not provide insurance or do anything with retirement. How do I go about starting to save for retirement. I don’t know where or what to pick! Please help

Let me make it very simple.  Go to either Vanguard.com or Fidelity.com — and get their toll-free phone number.  Call and ask them to help you open a ROTH IRA.  You will start with a check, and then sign up for monthly withdrawals of at least $100 from your checking account.  When they ask how you want to invest, just tell them you want to buy the S&P 500 stock index fund.  then stick to the plan, no matter what the stock market headlines!
