Ask Terry Questions Home refinancing

Home refinancing

By Terry Savage on August 11, 2020 | Housing / Real Estate

I lost my well paying job, currently unemployed, unemployment benefits will soon run out, will soon begin to dip into 401 K, my spouse works, I am unable to find a similar job with same salary, am 63 years old. Is there any way we can refinance my house with just one income?

Ugh. You can try. And depending on the income, the amount owed, and the current value of your home, you may be able to pull it off. You can just say you’re “retired” when they ask about spousal income. Try GuaranteedRate.com or QuickenLoans’ Rocket Mortgage to see if you would qualify.
