You “found” a savings bond? Changing the name depends on exactly where you found it! If someone died, you need the death certificate and the authorization by either the probate court (in case of a will) or a sworn statement and applicable papers if the estate was part of a Revocable Living Trust. Either way you must prove that it is now your property. And then, there could be tax implications — either for the estate, or for the recipient.
