HSAs
I have 2 HSA plans from 2 different employers. The 1st HSA is from a former job; in 2022, there were NO contributions and NO distributions from that HSA (there is a small remaining balance) . The 2d HSA is with my current job. The 2d HSA was created in 2022 and funded via employer/Sec. 125 contributions. There was one distribution from the 2d HSA. IRS Pub 969 seems t say that I DO NOT have to file Form 8889 for the 1st HSA because there was no “activity”. (Page 10, Pub 969) TRUE? I know I have to file an 8889 for the 2d HSA. However, because I seem to be the “beneficiary” of 2 HSAs, Pub 969 seems to require me to file 3 (!!!) forms 8889 ,ie, an 8889 for each of the 2 HSAs individually and a 3d 8889 combining the numbers from the other 2. See page 10, Pub 969. Can this possibly be TRUE??? SO, two questions. As always, thanks !!!

OK, this is way too tax sophisticated for me to answer. I suggest TurboTax — where they have experts standing by to help you with individual and unusual situations like this!
