I Bond purchase rejected
I completed information for my husband to purchase an I Bond. After completing all the information, including the checking account to take the $10k from, he received an email stating the purchase was canceled. “While trying to collect payment from your bank, they returned our debit. ” I think it’s either because I didn’t note that my name is on the checking account too…or we both entered the request on the same day. Does he really need to submit the requested paperwork and have it notarized?

The bank probably thought this was a “double” debit because it was for the same amount on the same day. First, try again to purchase in your husband’s account. Second, if that doesn’t go through, start early in the morning to call Treasury at 844-284-2676. Be patient.
And if all else fails, respond to the email you get from me with the details of your names, bank name, (not any numbers) and your telephone number and I will pass it on to see if they can call you and fix this.
