I am 65, I am closing a small 401K about $13K. Would it be a good idea to put that into an annuity, or buy gold or silver, or just roll it into my IRA?

Oh, STOP right there — before you “close” your 40lk. That will incur taxes on all the money, so if you don’t need it right now, you should roll it over into an IRA rollover account at Vanguard or Fidelity.

Once you get it into the rollover, where it can keep growing tax-deferred, you can decide whether to invest in a gold shares mutual fund, or a conservative balanced stock fund. You should NOT buy an annuity!
