ID.me
Your column in the 9-20-26 Chicago Tribune describing the new log in procedure using ID.me was very timely. I had just spent a frustrating afternoon struggling with the process of setting up my ID.me in order to access my T-Bill account on TreasuryDirect. As an 86 year old Senior Citizen, I admitedly have some difficulty with modern technology, although I’m not a computer idiot either. However, bouncing back and forth between my computer screen and my cell phone screen to record images of myself and my drivers license multiple times, then waiting on-line for a video call was maddening. I think I finally got my ID.me set up, but I’m not totally sure either. My wife also will need to repeat this proces for her TreasuryDirect account. We are tempted to just let her T-Bills mature and not go through the process, except for the fact that we will need to access the taxable interest information next year. Terry, do you have any advice? Help!
Terry Says
Well, all the advice I provided should take you — and your wife separately — through this grueling process. But just in case you didn’t actually succeed, please write back to me. I now have a good contact at Id.me who can provide help!
It’s a one-time only deal. Once you have the ID.me login, it will be much easier to access your TD account in the future. Stick with it!
