IDES Certification
My son received his UI finding letter, including the keybank debt card. He has not received any benefits yet. I reread everything does he have to certify online? He tried and we just get a message that he cannot certify online and the site gave us this number 1-800-244-5631, we called this number and they said they cannot do any certifications at this time, and gave us a new number 1-312-388-4337 and we get “all circuits are busy”. First question after receiving the UI Finding letter do we have to “certify” (which i thought we did when his employer gave him the link in an email) and the second question what would be the best way to get certified?

I just interviewed the IDES director and asked about situations like this. The good news is that they are opening a new call center this week, so you should have a much better chance of getting through. From what she said, though, I’m pretty sure you don’t have to certify until AFTER you are approved for benefits. They send the cards out immediately and then you get another letter telling you the benefit you have been granted.
