IDES debit card for long-deceased husband

By Terry Savage on January 03, 2021 | Wild Card

I received one of these in my husband’s name. He is deceased for 17 years. What should I do in this case? I am so glad to have seen you on WGN, because my family didn’t know what to make of this either. I figured it was some kind of scam.

It IS a scam. Read this article and then use the link to freeze your own credit:

You have no liabiity if his identity was scammed. Don’t do anything with the card, but keep it in case you are notified that your deceased spouse owes taxes on unemployment benefits! That’s not your problem — but it will be interesting!
