IDES Debit Card Received — A Scam??

By Terry Savage on July 19, 2020 | Wild Card

Hi Terry,
My IDES account is active with direct deposit and I’ve been receiving my benefits through direct deposit. So I was surprised to get a debit card in the mail, especially since I’m already receiving benefits through direct deposit. My question was, what should I do with the card since I can’t get a hold of anyone? Should I just hold onto it? That’s what I’ve been doing. And I haven’t activated it. Any suggestion would be helpful. Thank you!

This is part of a SCAM that is playing out and will make headlines this week! Don’t do ANYTHING with that card — and especially don’t try to “activate” it by going online and giving info. Many people — most of whom did NOT apply for unemployment — are getting these cards. IDES is still trying to figure it out– maybe FBI will be called to investigate it.
