IDES Fraud and KeyBank Card
Hi Terry,
I have heard you on WGN talk about the problems with IDES Fraud. Well low an behold I received my IDES Key Benefits card in the mail recently. Although I am not unemployed and am not in need of benefits. I followed all of the recommendation on your website for reporting. The IDES phone IVR added the suggestion of also reporting to www.identityfraud.com.
I also called Key Bank, there number printed all over the form and their website as their customer service number 866-295-2955. I spent 40 minutes listening to on hold music before talking to someone. They do not have a prompt for security or fraud prevention. Following the new cards prompt was a dead end. So, I was finally able to get to the on hold status by selecting “report a lost or stolen card”
When I did get to the agent on line, even though I explained to her that this card was sent to me in error and may have been part of a fraudulent scheme, she was quite fixated on the lost card scenario and it sounded like they were going to cancel the card (and probably issue a new one).
Just thought I’d give you a heads up, that not only is IDES struggling with this but so is Key Bank the company that is managing the debit cards for IDES.
Terry Says
That’s for sure. Key Bank started avoiding me last April and even called the TV station I mentioned them on to complain!
Follow ALL these instructions — especially reporting to the FBI.
I’m betting you get a 1099 in January asking for taxes on money you did not receive!!
