Ask Terry Questions IDES fraud claim

IDES fraud claim

By Terry Savage on January 18, 2021 | Wild Card

I received a letter 1/11/21 from IDES with information about my upcoming unemployment benefits. I have not filed a claim and have not received money from IDES. The person receiving these benefits has them direct deposited into Sutton Bank, a bank I have never heard of before. I know others who have had fraudulent claims filed in their names, and they have found it impossible to contact IDES. I did declare fraud through IDES website. How do I find out if this person has been receiving benefits since 3/29/20, the date of my “unemployment”? What to do next? I emailed the Sutton bank, but they only acknowledged the email, and someone will get back to me.

OK, you are definitely a victim of identity theft. Do everything on this list. And keep track of your efforts to report. Because you will receive a 1099 from Illinois telling you that you owe taxes on this money!
