IDES/PUA
My wife is a retired public school teacher with an IRS pension and until the outbreak of the pandemic she was an independent contractor with the DuPage County Farm Bureau going into schools teaching an hour-long class several times per month during the school year. Correct me if I’m wrong, I believe she can collect the PUA stimulus funding, but not standard unemployment compensation? But before before seeking PUA, she has to fill out standard unemployment paperwork; be rejected and then fill out the PUA paperwork. right? Is there anything on the standard unemployment paperwork that would prevent her from filing the PUA?

You are exactly correct. She must apply for-=- and be turned down for — traditional unemployment first. The process could take weeks! The only saving grace is that the unemployment benefits should be backdated! Start now!
