IDES –why use debit cards?
Hi Terry, I read your article on identity theft on unemployment benefits in the state of Il great job!
I wanted to know if they did away with the debit cards and only did direct deposit would that help with the fraud situation?

I can think of a dozen ways IDES could improve their performance — all revolving around fraud protection. BUT many people are “unbanked” — cant afford or don’t want to have checking accounts. So those debit cards are a good way for them to avoid paying for check-cashing services.
