Illinois State Unemployment Fraud – Address not Name

Hi Terry!

My wife heard your comments on WGN last night (Tuesday, 1/26) about unemployment fraud in Illinois. We received a UI Finding letter and debit card send to our address from a name we have never seen before. This concerns us! Should it?

We already have a freeze on our credit from the Equifax breech a couple of years ago – never lifted it. Is there a way to know whether there’s identity fraud of some kind? It’s not our name, but we don’t know what other information was used besides our address. Any suggestions on what to do to discover whether it’s identity fraud? How should we let IDES know there’s a fraudulent unemployment claim?
