Inherited Insurance Policy Tied to a Stock Portfolio

By Terry Savage on August 21, 2015 | Investments

I have a small inheritance in a Teachers brokerage tied to a stock portfolio. I wanted to sell it and move the balance to my portfolio at a major brokerage house into an inherited IIRA. Since that involves selling and than buying again, when is the perfect time to do so? My legal time limit is November. Do I wait it out until October to sell or sell now when stocks have tumbled as the new cost will be lower? (I am 15 yrs to retirement.)

Terry Says:  If you want to have more money to invest, I suggest you not wait to make the change.  Then you can wait to see if stocks move lower, meanwhile waiting it out in a money market fund.
