Inherited IRA

By Terry Savage on March 07, 2022 | Financial Planning / Retirement

It’s 10 years since my mother died . You said you have to take it all in the 10 years. I called Scwab and they said I was grandfathered out.I could leave it as long as I continue to take the yearly distribution. I don’t understand how .My mother died 3-9-12. My birthday is 12-17-50. Does that make sense.?

Terry Says

If you read carefully I said the new 10-year withdrawal plan applies to people who died after December 21, 2019.
For beneficiaries who died BEFORE that date, the old rules remain in effect.
