i have money in 6 month treasuries if i die before term will my heirs have to wait for maturity or collect immediately?

If it’s in your name, it likely will take a few months for your will to be probated. And in that time, the Tbill will mature. If you haven’t designated automatic renewal, the proceeds will drop back into your bank account, and from there they will be distributed.
No, you can’t get “out” of a T-bill early if purchased through TreasuryDirect.
