Interest-bearing short-term savings

By Terry Savage on September 20, 2022 | Chicken Money

Hi Terry,

I recently retired from the fire service. Between my pension and new job, I have approximately 200k sitting in a savings account earning next to nothing. This is in addition to a well-funded and balanced 457. I am looking at short-term savings/investment that yields at minimum 2.0% but am skeptical of online institutions I’ve never heard of. I do not want to invest in anything long-term as we may use this money on a future home purchase or major remodeling.

Again, I’m aware of money-market accounts, CD, and even bond options; however all of them have various drawbacks. Thoughts?

Thank you.

Try investing in U.S. government Treasury bills. The interest is free from state income taxes. And they are the safest investment in the world!
