Ask Terry Questions Interest from I bonds

Interest from I bonds

By Terry Savage on May 12, 2023 | Chicken Money

Where can I see interest paid on my I bonds? It doesn’t show up when I checked at treasury direct.com. I purchased them in Nov. 2022.

Terry Says

Well, first you have to go to your account at TreasuryDirect.gov. Make sure you use “.gov” Then log in securely. The look for your marketable securities page. You’ll find it there, including interest earned. BUT the interest isn’t posted until the 5th month — to account for the potential 3 month penalty for early withdrawal, and another month after that. Keep checking back and I’m sure you’ll find it when you click on the security for your I-bond.
