Ask Terry Questions Investments Nearing Retirement

Investments Nearing Retirement

By Terry Savage on March 09, 2020 | Investments

I am within one year and my husband within two years of retirement. I have 35% in a money market and the rest in either a Target 2020 and another conservative fund with about 40% in stocks and the rest in bonds. If I pull out of the stock market now and covert to a cash fund is this the wisest move at this point? My husband is in an aggressive stock market fund. Thank you.

Sounds like a pretty good allocation to me in your portfolio. The MM fund will allow for your RMDs. Don’t panic. But watch your husband’s blood pressure carefully. He is in line for some steep losses!
