Ask Terry Questions IRA Investment

IRA Investment

By Terry Savage on October 22, 2022 | Chicken Money

I am 73 years old and have about 15,000 left in my IRA after recent losses. You spoke on TV about Treasury Bonds
paying 9.5%. Can I transer all the money in the Treasury Bond? My IRA is with fidelity. If I can do I just call up
Fidelity and ask them to transfer? Thanks for your time.

Terry Says

Sorry, but I was talking about Series I bonds (like the old series E, but different in how they pay interest). Here’s a link that explains them: https://www.terrysavage.com/i-bonds-everything-you-must-know/

Unfortunately you cannot buy them in an IRA, as the Treasury will not act as custodian for IRA investments.
If you’re worried about losing more in your IRA, keep the money inside the IRA but switch it to a money market fund.
