Ask Terry Questions IRA Withdrawal

IRA Withdrawal

By Terry Savage on August 25, 2021 | Chicken Money

I have $11k in T. Rowe Price traditional IRA under 0/ low earning money market accout. I will be 59 1/2 in October. I’m receiving UIC state retirement pension since 2016. Where should I transfer this $11k to earn something off of it, but keep it fairly accessible for emergencies? Thank you very much!

Terry Says

You should leave it right there! If you withdraw it you will owe income taxes on all of it– thus costing yourself 20% probably! Leave it there, and wait for interest rates to rise. That will happen, and you’ll be glad it is there!
