OMG! I’m trying hard not to panic on your behalf!
First of all, who told you that you owe that much money? Was it the IRS? Did you represent yourself — or did you hire a tax attorney? If you didn’t, you need one! I have no idea where you live, and the attorney must be able to practice in your state of residence. But I do want to let you know that there are some huge scams out there, pretending to get you out of tax trouble for a large fee!
I can’t personally recommend the people who wrote this article, but it does give a great picture of the things you need to know in choosing an attorney. You can get a free consultation. This is where I would start.
