Ask Terry Questions IRS lost refund check

IRS lost refund check

By Terry Savage on February 27, 2023 | Social Security

Hi. We received our tax refund check around Nov 1, 2022. Our daughter mis-placed it. Called IRS, unable to talk to anyone live. Was able to leave a message and get form 3911, which we filled out and sent in around December 8, 2022. We have heard nothing, and I cannot get through to a person to find out the status of a refund re-issue Check. Any suggestions on how we can find out the status of our refund reissue check? It was for $13,398. Thank you for any help that you can suggest. We listen to you every Wednesday and John Williams show and love your advice.

Wow, that’s tough — and it could take a while to get the replacement.
Try opening an IRS ID.me account. That’s where you can find out what’s going on. Use this link: https://www.terrysavage.com/create-an-irs-account-for-info/

One more thing: Did you ask for the new refund to be direct deposited to your bank account? I hope so. That’s the way to do it from now on.
