IRS Refund Higher Than Expected
Hi Terry, my 2021 Federal taxes were filed electronically through Turbo Tax. My tax situation is not complex. I received my refund with a direct deposit to my bank. I was expecting $600 and received $900 from the Treasury. I assume it is a mistake. Should I await an accompanying IRS letter of notification in a few months or should I call the busy IRS office now for an explanation? I never experienced a bigger than expected refund. Thanks.

Nope. Just sit tight. They don’t make that kind of mistake. Some withholdings were adjusted this year by employers, and several people have written to say they received an unexpectedly large refund. Save the money!
