IRS Tax Refunds From A Previous Year
Hi Terry, When will the IRS be sending out tax refunds from a previous year? My partner submitted a tax return for 2016 back at the beginning of February 2020 and has yet to receive his refund check which is several thousand dollars. I heard the 2019 refunds are being released in the next week or so. Also, will prior year refunds earn any interest like delayed current ones are? Thank you.

I honestly don’t know the answer to that. If your partner is so far behind in filing, it’s a real shame. I’m not sure they will be paying interest on those previous year’s refunds. And the return will probably go to the bottom of the pile, since they are paying and not collecting.
