IRS — unexplained deposit
I received a refund of $2577.08 from the IRS deposited into my account. I was expecting around a $1000 from paying taxes on my unemployment. How can I find out why I received this amount and if it was a mistake?

Many people are reporting unexpected windfalls from the IRS. Some may come if you paid taxes on unemployment benefits up to $10,200. And some are receiving benefits from medical charges if they are covered by the VA. Some a from returns reviewed and they found you were eligible for more stimulus than you received. And some are just inexplicable. Ask your bank to tell you if there was a “code” on the deposit that might reveal the form number on which the deposit is based.
I’m trying to get an answer from the IRS — but the above is all they gaveme.
