Low risk investment

By Terry Savage on September 27, 2021 | Chicken Money

Hi Terry,
I am getting close to retirement age and would like to move a portion of my higher risk and stock and mutual fund investments and their earnings into those of a lower risk to preserve those earnings.
Do you have any suggestions as to some good choices that will preserve my funds during retirement?
Thank you!

The only place guaranteed not to lose your principal is a money market mutual fund, or bank CDs (short term) or U.S. Treasury bills (www.TreasuryDirect.gov). Yes, the interest is very low — lower than inflation which is destroying your buying power But you won’t lose principal. And rates are starting to creep up!

Anything that promises you a higher yield, definitely involves some hidden risk!
