Medicare after disability — covering a gap
I recently went on disability and currently have Cobra for my health insurance. My Medicare will go into effect 2/1/2025. My Cobra runs out this December. Do I need to find insurance coverage for just 1 month to maintain continuity of coverage so that it won’t affect my Medicare coverage?

Gosh, you don’t want to be exposed even for one month without health insurance. I recommend a short term health insurance policy. You can find one from United Healthcare here.
I know it’s a pain to go through this, but even one month uncovered is a risk you don’t want to take!
Immediately, upon signing up for Medicare to start at age 65, stick with traditional Medicare and get the most comprehensive supplement — Plan G. YOu can do all of that at Medicare.gov.
Please read the red box on my home page about avoiding Advantage plans if you can afford the traditional Medicare, supplement, and drug plan. If you are already on disability you probably (just guessing) will have more medical expenses. And if you sign up for Plan G supplement within 6 months of going on Medicare, you cannot be turned down for medical reasons.
