Misspelled name
I bought EE saving bonds and the person
For whom I bought them for name is misspelled, so the bank won’t cash them.

Are these bonds in YOUR Treasury Direct account online? Or were they paper bonds purchased years ago?
If they were paper bonds, here’s some information on how to cash them in:

As long as the person can prove identity and give them your name as purchaser, they should be able to cash the paper bonds following the procedure outlined above.
If they are bonds purchased online and in your TreasuryDirect account, please write back to the email you receive saying your question has been answered. Give me your name, phone number, and the amount of bonds. I’ll pass it on to my contact at Treasury and see if we can get the name changed online.
